The Olympiade is a version of the Chess Companion II apparently aimed primarily at the French market, though it was also sold in the UK. It uses the strong 4K Kaare Danielsen program also found in the Explorer, Chess Companion II, Concord and Concord II. Apart from its colour the Olympiade casing is identical to the Chess Companion II, as also is the pcb, including the SciSys-W 0609V171 singlechip processor. Playing simultaneous games against the Olympiade and Companion II using the same moves produces sufficient identical replies, including losing lines, to support the conclusion that the programs are the same.
Like two other SciSys machines aimed primarily at the French market, the Courier V and the French version of the Electronic Chess Mk 10 (‘Caravelle’), the Olympiade is not very easy to find.
The Olympiade is not to be confused with the much later Saitek Olympiad.
